Our Garden Of Eden

Our Garden Of Eden

Our Garden of Eden - Documentary Film 97 Minutes 2010. A colorful tapestry of stories from an allotment garden community in Bern.

Synopsis

The coexistence of people from all over the world in the Bottigenmoos allotment garden area on the outskirts of Bern inspired Mano Khalil to make "Our Garden of Eden." Episodes and stories from the lives of individuals and families are woven into a colorful tapestry. The people themselves have their say, telling, reporting, and explaining. Breaking love relationships, unfulfilled dreams, homesickness, but also genuine will to solve conflicts and problems together (e.g., for the construction of a communal grill), living with the otherness of others without fundamentally questioning oneself. With his film, Mano Khalil wants to show that members of different cultures, religions, and nations can get along with each other. The camera approaches people unobtrusively and respectfully, the music underscores ironically and cheerfully. "Our Garden of Eden" portrays without kitsch and social romanticism. And in the end, there is pork and lamb from the same grill for everyone.
